Default Re: Body Interior Variation

Ford repurposed a section of the Highland Park plant to fabricate the interior trim sets that went out to the different agencies. Whether they also supplied Murray, Briggs, and other subcontractors or not I can't say but it is likely they did or at least supplied materials to insure matches. Ford was very consistent on keeping things matching their sales literature descriptions. At the first part of model A production, some assembly agencies catered to local sales needs but that practice was very short lived as it slowed production and very few agencies were likely involved in this. It's likely that it was only the smaller and older agencies that did this due to their low production figures. An example that came up in discussion recently was the San Francisco agency due to it's 5 story building. The Richmond facility was built starting in 1930 so that they could shut the older facility down for higher production.

Due to this, the variations that folks speak about were likely few and far between. Most variations of anything were done for fleet sales only.
