Ford Engine Green actually had some variability. Not necessarily made from "tailings" like the floor boards are reported (actually the floor board drawings specify an actual color) the color supply was sufficiently variable so that presently, restorers are encouraged by the Standards to "match" colors on Ford Engine Green components. The thinking being that all components were typically painted "together" and there shouldn't be any variability between say a valve chamber cover and the engine proper.

Dare I say given today's color technology, the color from a single paint source is probably "beyond close." And better than it was "in the day."
