When I had my '42 G-series six, I considered modifying the manifold to take a Stromberg 97 as I always felt that the G engine would benefit from less constricted fuel intake path but never got around to trying it. Given that the ford six is 226ci I don't consider that it would be over carbed since the 97 was originally designed for the smaller 221ci engines.
