I know all the race teams use if not this process, one just like it. Probably common in the aviation business. I believe it would increase the longevity of the parts. Not that makes any sense for us old guys!
A friend with an Ardun pretty much used different kinds of coatings on almost all the internal parts. Cams, lifters, rockers, gears, non scuff coatings and thermal coatings on pistons.
Then again, his neighbor owns the business that does this stuff.
