I think I’d at least inform the reconditioner of what you found immediately, and do it in writing so you can prove later that you have if the need arises. Talk to him about it and see what he says - maybe ask him to have a look-see.
I hope he stands behind his work and makes good under the warranty if needed.
I’m sure other barners would like to know who rebuilt the motor and his response, if you feel like disclosing.
