If you followed the link you saw my description of the cone/cup issues. Also the rubber seal around the perimeter helps a little. However the windshield MUST be able to be pivoted rearward through the opening or the windshield cannot be folded down.
When the cups and cones are proper as Ford made them the do hold the windshield securely whether in the up OR down position. as far as the down position the stanchions only fold forward to approximately level and stop. The bottom of the windshield then overlaps the ends of the belt rail panel.
