Interesting on the 64 mustang brakes. I had never noticed that, looks like the later years used them (as I remembered). Most of the drum brakes I have worked on have the retainers. The second image is for a 66 mustang. Looks like Ford decided that the omission for the 64 model year wasn't the best idea.
