Most of the old timers I knew used silver spray paint of any brand back in the day. Some paid a few cents extra and used the Copper Coat. Both worked OK.
The silver rattle can enamel has aluminum powder in it and the copper types have copper powder in it. Both are soft metals that will function as a sealer. In aviation, we still used both copper and aluminum washers to seal some banjo bolts. Spark plugs are still sealed with a copper washer to this day.
