Default Re: Crank pulley for divers helmet on 8 BA?

The best rule of thumb is to use either all 8BA truck stuff on the front or use all earlier stuff. If you go with earlier stuff you can use a crab or a helmet type distributor. The cam should be changed to 59A type with 59 type gears if nothing else just to make like easier and to allow the distributor to work properly. The 37 thru 48 type pumps will fit and any of the long snout crank pulleys can be made to fit pretty easily. A person can use a generator fan with a single belt that way. Plus you can use 59 type heads with only a minor mod for passages.

This is the best way to make an 8BA block more like a 59 or earlier block. They fit in AV8 cars better that way. Especially if you use the the 49 thru 51 Mercury oil pan and half bell but a truck set up may work also. I like the crab better but that's just personal preference.
