Correct, the third brush can be moved without loosening a screw or anything. The brush holder rides in a slot in the rear plate, and tension is provided by a flat V shaped retaining spring to keep it from sliding around.

Be careful with that voltage regulator. I'm dealing with generator problems myself stemming from the use of that product. I don't know if the product was defective or what. I was careful not to set the charging rate above the 15 amps called for in the instructions. But I fried my generator, horn, and turn signal flasher with that thing installed.
