I had a series of Volvos in the 80's and 90's and the rear muffler would only last about 10-12 months before needing replacement from Midas. The owner of the shop always joked that I wasn't buying mufflers, I was renting them because the warranty always allowed for a free replacement. At one point, he drilled a 1/4 inch hole in one upon replacement and that muffler lasted 5 years until I sold the car.
