Most of your responders favor restoring the bed.

I sense that your project has become a matter of "how soon can I get this thing done."

Model A restoration should be a pleasurable thing with little regard to schedule. Thinking out the details and actually being able to say, "I did that work myself" is most fulfilling.

Paying over 2K and maybe not getting the good fit or appearance should be one of your primary concerns.
