Some might have been made to roll but most I've seen are just sliders. There were several companies that made regulators and there are different design regulators for different body designs. A lot of them were pretty similar but not all the same. They need good lube in the tracks when they are designed to slide but they will work. It should become apparent when cleaning them as to whether they will roll or not.
