Default Re: 1946 Mercury Wiper Motor Trico

Phil I've never had a "pro" rebuild one of these for me, they are real simple and you should be able to get it going. I've done a number of these. Dismantle it, wash it out in thinners and reassemble in reverse. I relubed the paddle with Vasilene.

the 41 wiper motor will be correct if your car is a 46 or 47 with the small wiper bezels. The motor attaches to a U shaped bracket under the dash and the pivot arms attach to the motor direct. Correct motor is an SSR 1-4

Later 47/48 used a larger bezel and had a different arm piviot assembly under the dash. The pivot arms are attached to a frame that holds the motor. You can't use the 41 motor as they park the wipers up side of the centre divider of the windshield. I've got a 41 motor in mine and thats what it does.

If you can't get it to work check your vacuum hoses are around the right way.

by "bezel" I mean the chromed piece that goes around the splined shaft the wiper arms snaps on to.
