I tried to do it myself without buying the Casewell kit. I used vinegar, 99.9% nickel welding rod with the flux removed, salt, and a 6 volt battery charger. It started to work pretty well, but I think i was using to much current or had to much salt in the solution. With more trial and error I think i could get it to work well. I found the "recipe" online. I'm sure the Casewell kit works well.
