Thanks for all the info, I'll order a rebuild kit and a worm.
I have a 20 ton press that is up on blocks w/extensions hanging on the bottom so I can put long stuff in it.
I learned a long time ago to use a length of close fitting square tubing w/a heavy wall, on long pieces to keep them from bending, but I'll probably try that aluminum on the floor trick.
