My '38 with mechanicals will keep up with normal freeway traffic and then some, but you've got the idiots on the road to watch out for also, so I tend to drive defensively in the center lane. This makes for good PR also, as I sure don't want to be thought of as being in the same class as the rice burner racers.

On the open road, and by that I mean flat out on the Nevada desert, I can enjoy the wind in my face a bit more, but I believe the condition of my steering is the major factor in my feeling safe at speed. I do run bias tires, and the handling is as good or better than any car I've ever driven. Bottom line (long winded), it's not how old your car is, it's how many idiots you have to avoid and how tightly maintained your car is.
