I put one in my 36 in place of the radio. The ash receptacle just pulls away from the central pivot post. It has some little protrusions that grab either side of the pivot post. The face and the body are riveted together. I drilled out the staked rivet part and sent the body and the face off to the chrome plater and upon return, had my son drill and tap either end of the post on his micro lathe and reassembled it with some appropriately tiny screws.
