Unhook the distributor cable from the coil. Attach a short piece of wire there. Hook up a high tension plugwire and a sparkplug from the coil. Ground the short wire you have shortly while watching the sparkplug which should be againstground.
You got spark there now...you have points;condensor or short in the distributor.
