the only purpose for the glue,was to keep the shim in place while I got it all together in the tapered holes.I was imagining it all coming apart,before getting it together,and ending up with a massive headache.Glue was the only thing I could come up with.I think the friction fit is ok,because I marked the ends of the studs before tightening down the nuts,and there was absolutely no rotation of the taper in the hole,and I put a good bit of pressure on the wrench.Wish I could have pictured it.
