David, absolutely no need to apologise. We all appreciate your valuable input. I agree, dumping water down into the quarter makes no sense. In my case, there is no bottom to the quarter anyway, probably due to rust from water in that area. the other pic, isn't my car (which is American, for the record) and I think may be taken from the trunk side.
