My 1930 Town Sedan had one that was put in by a previous owner.
It worked fine for around 10 years, but then I found out the hard way that when one of those fails, it fails in the "Off" position - meaning that if you're driving along and it fails on you somewhere, you won't be getting the car home under its own power. I decided to replace it with a 1/4-turn ball valve.
