If you got a lever on the oppposite side from the throttle lever going to loudpedal you have a truck base on your carb.
Interesting - I'm going to trudge out to the barn through the snow and take a look. I don't remember seeing an extended shaft. You're all probably right about the car carburetor. I thought it might be a car engine in it, but it had hardened valve seats, which I think is characteristic of the truck engine. Hard to tell what the past was like.
