You should have 5 holes...two for mounting, 1 to connect the electrical wire to the terminal, 1 for use as a "hand" operation if the electrical circut is broken, and 1 for the on-off lever.

The notched hole is actually on the upper hinge part. The windshield FRAME is not notched.
