Railcarmover, I'm with you. My roadster has a mildly modified B engine (head, cam. weber, FSI,) Laycock O.D. and 3.54's and 6.50x16 wheels and tires. 65mph @ 2200rpm. I drove tractor-trailer for some years and I know that there is nothing one can do about tailgaters. I do have control of the space between myself and the vehicle in front of me. Whenever I have a tailgater (yesterday it was a Sheriffs SUV) I increase the distance between myself and the car in front of me, that way I can stop safely for both of us. Works for me.
