I have a Garmin GPS with Traffic. The GPS seems to work OK on 6v but the "Traffic" part does not. The "Traffic" works fine in my modern with 12v. I would venture to say that since the charge cord is also the antenna for traffic that has something to do with it.
I'm planning on installing a 12v converter to see if that helps.
