That truck looks about like mine did when I first got it so it is not beyond hope.

Check the inside of the glove box door there should be a model tag that will tell you what year, engine and model the truck is. My 1945 is as follows: 59C, 5 is for 1945, 9 is the engine type, in this case a 100 HP 239 V-8, C stands for commercial which is a 1/2 ton pickup.

Yours should start with either 2 for 1942 or 7 for 1947.
