You can use the 3 in one T copper faced gaskets and don't need the plate. The nice thing about the plate is that you can fit gland rings on both sides, but lots of people have done it without the plate. If you have a 26/27 with the tank in the cowl, good to go, but with the tank under the seat your fuel level is going to be lower then the carb most of the time unless you install a fuel pump or drop the carb down on a extension. You will also need to open the area where the manifolds slide on the 4 studs. You are also going to need to build a custom exhaust system.
