hack job jim here. just take the bolts over to the bench grinder take off a little length then sharpen the bolt at the end so it will thread nicely. Usually doing that will help me find the bracket or washer I was forgetting to put in there. Then to the bolt drawers. To take a bolt that is too long and make that bolt the length of bolt I had before I shortened it.

another favorite of mine in a pinch is to use a bolt that is way to long with a 3 inch stack of washers on it.
