I thought I would start another thread for this. My apologies if this has been covered but I could not find it in the search option.

But from the head gasket dealing with short piece of wire I got to thinking. When the car originally came out it had the copper/asbestos gasket. I assume that when the 'B' head came out it had the same gasket. So why then do the vendors recommend the newer felpro style gasket? I will try the wire method the next time around if I go back to the copper style.
