I think that both ways are correct-at least for the town sedan. For a coupe I do not know. Just remember that those colors are not correct colors. They were closer to a brown. At some point Dupont changed the formulas-I think in the 50's-to the colors we see today. I looked at an original townsedan with those colors and they are two shades of brown.
