Re: Sun visors for a 32 fordor
Joanne,
It would seem that you have half of the center-mounted visor clamp and the heavy wire frame from the end-mounted type, just as you thought.
You might be able to find the missing half of the center-mounted clamp (the half that is riveted to the pressed fiber board visor itself) with or without the visor intact or more likely the whole visor assembly. Without either modifying your existing header panel (inside over the windshield) or finding a late version of that panel that is compatible with the end-clamp type of visor, the wire frames that you have are basically worthless. In other words, you're more or less back to square one. You'll have to find a pair of originals (they turn up on ebay from time to time and there's always the "wanted" avenue here on the Barn's swap meet section and that of the Early V-8 Club) or go with the reproductions (which I have not seen, but perhaps others here have and can comment on them).
The center-mounted type of visor is attached to the car's header panel with oval head slotted machine screws after the header panel is covered with upholstery and easily added to the car after all the upholstery work is done. So, don't be influenced by that deadline.
