Unless you have a loop bypass in the line, and then the pump will not pump the gas with any pressure as it keeps going in a loop .

i wish i had a magical pump. All the electric fuel pumps ive had were noisy empty, and quiter when theres gas. But it doesnt stop trying to pump or stop making noise, just changes pitch.
