It sounds like you have straps up inside with common sense fasteners. That means the top has been replaced at least twice. All Sport Coupes had a rumble seat and an opening rear curtain. They used Cinch fasteners which are a bit different than common sense fasteners shown below.

If your car was converted from a trunk to a rumble seat then it was originally a Business Coupe. Also, Sport Coupes had Whipcord (canvas like) fabric tops until about June 1928. Thereafter all Sport Coupes had artificial leather tops. The latter didn't fare well over decades and most were replaced by the 1950's.
