Just kidding. It's a blast from the past. I would make it work for you. American Graffiti lives on.

I think back to my older brother's friend "Skin" (named apparently for his crew/buzz cut) who had a chopped and channeled 30 Ford Coupe. And a cigarette on his lip and a cig box rolled up in his white T-shirt sleeve (it had to be WHITE - did I say that?) And chino pants and penny loafers. With pennies. The standard uniform in 1963.

I was too young to remember much beyond squeezing onto my brother's lap as we went for a ride - a FAST ride - down the street and around the block.

I get out of the car and sniff - "wot's that rubber smell?" My automotive experience to that tender age of 7 was entirely the family sedan.

Drive on - and thanks! Gosh I still remember that smell!
