Thanks, Neil and Dudley for the NO spot weld info. I thought Dudley and I discussed whether the upper and lower panels were spot welded before. I guess I thought they were welded together. I am having a tough time separating the 2 panels as I can't get the clamping strip removed. The panels and clamping strip appear to be rusted together. I am looking for a good original clamping strip I would need if I need to "split" the one on my CCPU. I hope to get it off in one piece, but after more than a week of soaking it in PB Blaster, still no luck. I don't see why using a little friction tape between the panels would be a problem as it is so thin it wouldn't be seen and would stop any squeaks that might occur.
