Here's something I posted on the H.A.M.B a couple of days ago. I may be of value to some of the new guys on this forum.

"You people should get to know Charlie Schwendler in New York. Charlie rebuilds Ford carburetors and fuel pumps to better than new condition. He runs them in on his test engine, and most folks don't even have to adjust the mixture or idle screws when they install them. He also rebuilds "Load-A-Matic" distributors to the same standard. His best capability is converting SBC distributors for use in 8BA style flathead Fords. He can do 'em all, mechanical advance only, or vacuum over mechanical (with the proper flathead advance curve.). For the visual effect (and they run good, too) my favorite ignition of an 8BA is a Mallory "Flattop". Original flathead units are getting few and far between these days (also expensive), but Charlie can convert one from a Chevrolet to fit (just like the GM distributors). I am having him convert a tach drive SBC Mallory to use in my "Tub" and drive a neat NOS vintage SW mechanical tachometer I found. He's well known in the flathead world, but I guess not to the general Hot Rod folks."
