the mark light housings on my '41 have a screw on the underside that holds the glass lens to the body of the light assembly. IOW the entire marker light assembly must be removed (two 7/8" nuts under the fender) in order to remove the glass and therefore the bulb.

of course, it's possible that there are a number of different marker light assemblies out there...
