I don't see the point in doing that; it's an anti-drainback valve.
If you have the filter mounted horizontally (with the anti-drainback valve disabled), then won't your filter be, well, drained when you first start the engine? That means a bit of time without oil flowing (more important for a full-flow setup, less so with the A-6705).
I've got that exact same setup (A-6705), and have NOT altered my filter. It works fine, as is - i.e. the oil in my engine is definitely cleaner looking than it would have been without a filter.
I have, though, also added a 90-deg adapter and now have the filter mounted vertically. Regardless - that doesn't change my point: I don't see a reason to mess around with the anti-drainback valve on the filter. Even with the partial flow setup, there's more than enough oil pressure for the filter to do its job (IMO, of course).
