From the way so many people want to convert to dual master cylinders you would think that thousands of people were killed in auto crashes because of failures of those 'dangerous" single master cylinders.
I am not at all convinced that is true.
If you rebuild the entire system and use quality fluid AND maintain the Emergency brake system as originally designed, I do not see a problem with the single master cylinder. If you do have a hydraulic failure, the mechanical Emergency brake functions in much the same manner as the dual system--it might take a second to realize and apply, and those rear wheels are not very efficient at stopping, but they would be the same rear wheel brakes as in the dual master cylinder.
