1937 Banjo Steering Wheel, All Original With NO Cracks
City:
Alger
State:
Ohio
Price:
SOLD
This is about as nice an original banjo wheel as you'll ever find. Never been "restored" or messed with, I removed this from the original car ('37 Deluxe Humpback) which had been sitting in our barn for over 50 years.
I spent about 10 hours polishing the spokes by hand, and they came out beautiful with absolutely no flaws. There are ZERO cracks in the wheel. Not even a hint of a crack! I polished the outer wheel by hand to clean it up and see how nice the original finish was. There is ONE small gouge and a spot where a vintage speed knob was attached that I removed. Both areas are clearly pictured. The spoke "bands" do have some pitting which can be seen in the pictures. All this thing needs is the hub painted and it could be used as-is. The wheel could easily be finished and painted for that perfect factory look, with very little effort.
The speed knob is pretty cool, and in good shape also, but it does have pitting on the chrome. The knob and bands are in good condition, but not perfect. The knob has a few hairline cracks, but they are not separated in any way. I will include it for free if wanted. It will fit the indent on the wheel perfectly.
