The radiator protector reminds me of a story that a friend told me years ago. He was a veteran of WWII and stationed in Europe. He said the Germans would string wire across the roads at just about neck high if you were riding in a Jeep. The Americans started welding a piece of steel to the bumper that stood straight up at about windshield height with a sharpened edge to cut the wire and prevent the alternative.
