I've grained 3 dashes with grainit rollers and plates. Your dash look terrific to me and close to the original picture. Looks better than the dashes I did myself.

Before starting on your dash did you provide him with a picture of what you wanted or just say you wanted it "original"? Did you specifically say you didn't want it original? Looks original to me.

Before starting did the grainer provide a picture of what he was going to do?

I'm a relatively uninterested observer but the color photo looks a lot like the black and white one to me.
