Default Re: water pump removal

I have a leakless pump with a 2 blade aluminum fan. The pump is mounted with the 4 studs that have the nuts attached. I recently removed the pump with the fan attached without loosening the radiator. It came out easily without touching the radiator.
If you have a pump with a 2 bladed fan that is mounted to the block with the original studs you will have to detach the 2 upper radiator support rods at the radiator end, lower the collant level in the radiator, and disconnect the upper water hose. This will allow tipping the radiator forward to provide enough clearance to remove the pump assembly without damaging the radiator. My guess is if you have a 4 bladed fan it will have to be removed before removing the pump.
