A lot more went into wheel fabrication than I imagined. Think about all the millions and millions of wheels that were made over the years just for the car assembly...plus spares for replacements later on. Special equipment for all the milling. Also the many days in the kiln. No wonder they went to metal spoke, then stamped steel instead of wood. OSHA would have a field day in a factory with all those belt driven lathes and presses, steam and heat. I was looking for missing fingers in the video. They even had child labor, hopefully a summer job. Interesting paint process, dip and spin. I was thinking that I wish I could go back in time and walk out of there with two finished wheels under each arm. Certainly a lost art.
