Look closely from the rear of the doors back and I think it's pretty apparent that the body is that of a shortened sedan. The body behind the doors is longer than a pickup would be, the remains of the sedan beltline is partially there, the box is not stock - could be homebuilt out of wood - and the sedan fenders on the rear have been widened (joint clearly visible).
