The PowerMaster alternator that looks like a generator is actually a very small alternator stuffed inside of a case that is slightly bigger than the stock generator. I have one and it fried itself at a young age. I was able to get it repaired (guts replaced) at an alternator shop, and that has held up for a few years. If you can still find a shop that does such work.
