.300" lobe lift would be about the same as the old Isky RPM300 cam, but it had about 270 degrees of advertised duration. Quite a bit more duration than a stock '57 312 cam.
I had an RPM300 in my '55 Mercury when a kid. Definately more power. Not really a lopey idle, but sounded better than than stock. I bought mine off the shelf at the original Gratiot Auto Supply in Detroit for $35 including the lifters in 1967. I imagine you would have to multiply that amount by at least 10 today.
