I've seen that in the Shelby world. Cars for the 80s to early 2000s were finished with clear coat and polished so you could yourself clearly in the reflection. Today those $25,000 paint jobs are being redone in single stage paint with the "proper" amount of orange peel. BTW that new paint job is another $25,000 at a knowledgeable Mustang restoration shop.
