Long term thinking, not a noted aspect of insurance companies. Years ago I asked my home insurance company if it would help direct costs or reduce my insurance premiums if I removed the likely asbestos-containing popcorn ceiling from my house. Nope, they'd take a chance on a way more expensive recovery if it burned or flooded.
